The Role
We wish to appoint a Senior Associate to join our highly regarded Public, Regulatory and Investigations team. We are seeking an ambitious solicitor (4+ years PQE) with strong general experience in litigation. This is a special opportunity for the right candidate to further their career in our Tier 1 ranked Public, Regulatory and Investigations team.
This will involve working in areas of public law, advising public and private sector clients on what statutory bodies can do and the procedures they must follow. The successful candidate will advise regulators, regulated entities and others operating in a variety of regulated sectors on all types of regulation, including data protection legislation. We advise on access to, and disclosure of, information, including freedom of information. Our team helps clients deal with investigations and inquiries of any kind – whether statutory or non-statutory.
Applicants should ideally have an administrative or public law background with demonstrable experience in a number of the following areas: administrative and/or constitutional law, statutory interpretation, judicial review and other litigation, information law, such as freedom of information and data protection, sectoral regulation; and / or investigations and inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
Advising on administrative/public law, statutory interpretation and analysis (including of sector-specific domestic and EU legislation), and information law issues, including FOI, Access to Information on the Environment and data privacy issues.
Assisting in administrative law litigation, such as judicial review and statutory appeal proceedings, to include briefing and managing the input of counsel.
Assisting in drafting legal opinions and court documents.
Assisting in drafting other documents such as correspondence, consultation documents and public bodies’ policies, procedures or guidance documents.
Advising on the conduct of investigations by regulatory authorities and assisting clients in their approach to statutory or other investigations and inquiries.
Collaborating with cross-sectoral teams within MHC, including our privacy and charities teams.

Candidate Requirements:
4+ yrs PQE in a related practice area.
Strong focus on client service and the ability to manage multiple clients and a busy workload.
Pro-active, working collaboratively within a team environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Have the ability to work to tight deadlines and be flexible in how they approach work.
Ability to manage both their own caseload and work as part of a team.
Experience working with regulatory or public bodies is an advantage.
