The Opportunity

Mason Hayes & Curran is one of Ireland’s leading business law firms, advising domestic and international organisations across the Technology, Financial Services, Energy, Built Environment and Health & Life Sciences sectors.


As the firm continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Director of Marketing to lead the next phase of development of our marketing function.

This is a senior leadership role reporting to the Managing Partner and working closely with the firm’s leadership team, partners and business services leaders. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering a modern marketing strategy that reinforces our brand and profile, strengthens market visibility, deepens client engagement and supports the firm’s strategic ambitions. The firm’s Marketing department also has responsibility for coordinating, managing and delivering all internal and external events organised by the firm, covering client and staff engagement events and client entertainment activities, together with firm sponsorships and promotional activities.


The Director of Marketing will lead a talented marketing team while working in close partnership with specialist leaders across Design, Client Development, Client Services, Knowledge and Bids & Pursuits to ensure a joined-up approach to client and market engagement and business growth.

The Role

The Director of Marketing will be responsible for shaping and delivering the firm’s marketing, corporate PR and digital communications strategy. They will ensure that marketing, communications, events, branding and promotional activity, together with corporate content and social media presence, is aligned to business strategy and contributes to the firm’s overall growth objectives.


The role requires a balance of strategic thinking and leadership, with responsibility for developing the marketing function, strengthening stakeholder engagement and ensuring marketing activity is target client-focused, measurable and effective.


The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to partners and senior leaders, helping the firm identify opportunities to enhance its profile, deepen client relationships and strengthen its position in key markets.


Key Responsibilities


Strategic Marketing Leadership

  • Develop and deliver a firm-wide marketing and brand strategy aligned to the firm’s business objectives.

  • Provide market insight and strategic advice to the Managing Partner, Management Group and Practice Group Leaders.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the firm’s profile, brand, reputation and market presence.

  • Establish clear measures of marketing effectiveness and return on investment.

Marketing Team Leadership

  • Lead, inspire and develop the marketing team.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, high performance and continuous improvement.

  • Support the ongoing development of marketing capability across the team.

  • Create an environment where individuals can broaden their skills and contribute at a strategic level.


Campaigns, Communications and Market Engagement

  • Lead the planning and delivery of integrated marketing campaigns across the firm’s priority sectors, services and client audiences.

  • Oversee the firm’s content and communications strategy, ensuring activity is targeted, relevant, thought-leadership orientated and aligned to business priorities.

  • Drive the firm’s digital marketing strategy, including web, social and emerging channels.

  • Oversee public relations, thought leadership and market-facing communications.

  • Manage internal staff communications activity and information campaigns.

  • Manage and implement submissions for legal directories and industry awards, tailored to the firm’s profile and brand strategy.


Partner and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with partners and practice groups across the firm.

  • Support partners in designing and executing client, sector and practice focused campaigns through effective marketing programmes.

  • Act as a trusted advisor on audience engagement, campaign strategy and market visibility.

  • Work collaboratively across the business to ensure marketing activity supports wider firm objectives.


Collaboration Across Business Development Functions

  • Partner closely with the Director of Design to ensure marketing activity reflects and amplifies the firm’s positioning, identity and client experience ambitions.

  • Work alongside the Director of Client Development to align marketing programmes with client relationship and growth priorities.

  • Collaborate with the Bids & Pursuits team to support strategic opportunities and strengthen the firm’s approach to winning new business.

  • Contribute to a joined-up commercial leadership approach that connects brand, marketing, client development and business growth.


Performance and Operations

  • Manage the marketing budget and ensure effective use of resources.

  • Use data, insight and feedback to continuously measure and improve performance.

  • Oversee the use and development of the firm’s CRM system to support relationship intelligence, campaigns and reporting.

  • Introduce best-practice marketing planning, reporting and measurement frameworks.

  • Ensure marketing operations support the efficient delivery of high-quality work across the firm.


Experience and Qualifications

  • Significant senior marketing leadership experience, ideally within legal, professional services, financial services or another knowledge-led environment.

  • Experience developing and implementing strategic marketing programmes that support organisational growth.

  • Demonstrated experience and success leading and developing high-performing teams.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior leadership level.

  • Experience working within complex, relationship-driven organisations.

  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how marketing contributes to business success.
