The Role

This role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to undertake technical and rewarding tax advisory, transactional and disputes work with excellent domestic and international clients.

The Team:

The tax team at Mason Hayes & Curran comprises highly skilled and technical tax lawyers and accountants. We are experiencing sustained and record year over year growth, driven principally by our multinational client base and deep domestic and international relationships.

Requirements

Candidates should have experience of working in an advisory capacity on tax technical matters, planning and structuring relevant to some of the business transactions described above in an advisory capacity, ideally gained in private practice.


We are looking for:

  • Top class academics.

  • Professional qualification in law, accounting and/or tax.

  • Experience in an advisory role in a large domestic or international corporate law or accountancy firm (possibly combined with time in an industry role).

  • Excellent analytical and written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong tax technical knowledge.

  • Positive attitude, with a growth mindset, good commercial awareness and an ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tax advice on corporate M&A, banking, aviation and structured finance and real estate transactions. As part of this, you will draft and negotiate transaction documents including, in particular, share and asset purchase agreements, investment agreements loan agreements and provide tax input on transaction documents in aviation, securitisation and other asset financing transactions.

  • Advise clients on all Irish tax matters in connection with their business and develop, communicate and implement efficient and commercially sound solutions to identified tax complexities.

  • Prepare and publish current awareness material, academic and industry articles and policy responses to Government and other consultations.

  • Collaborate effectively and efficiently with multi-disciplinary teams within the firm and with other advisers on domestic and international mandates.

  • Identify and develop opportunities to grow your and the wider Tax practice through networking, business development and tax technical leadership.

  • Develop and train other tax professionals to contribute to sustained growth of the firm’s Tax practice.

  • Demonstrate professional and personal integrity and respect for colleagues and clients at all times.

Note that tax compliance work is not expected or envisaged.
